Diversions, The Dance Company of Wales, works with award winning Finnish choreographer Tommi Kitti this Autumn to create a brand new production for its Autumn 2002 international tour. Audiences across Wales and the UK will have the opportunity to see the new production by Kitti, winner of the 2000 Bagnolet Award - the most prestigious choreographic award for modern dance in the world. The new production for Diversions, Beginnings, is beautiful and simple, balancing intimate solos and duets with graceful and flowing sections for all eight dancers. Also on the bill is Unspoken Agreement, choreographed by Japanese choreographer Shigehiro Ide. Flipping between ironic humour and brutal honesty, Unspoken Agreement weaves a dance narrative out of carefully observed human behaviour. Diversions performs at thirteen venues, mostly in Wales, during the Autumn. The tour also takes the Company to Japan for the first time to perform in Kani City and at the prestigious Tokyo International Festival. Diversions is the flagship dance company of Wales, performing dance by some of the world’s most exciting choreographers. Since it began life 19 years ago, it has stayed true to its belief that dance performances should be magical, entertaining and inspiring occasions. |
