RICHARD GOUGH, artistic director of the Aberystwyth based international theatre organization, the Centre for Performance Research (CPR), is to be honoured on September 11th,at the 14th Cairo International Festival for Experimental theatre. Prof. Fawzi Fahmi Ahmed, President of the Academy of Arts and President of the Cairo International Festival For Experimental Theatre invited Richard to receive the award in Cairo during this year's festival, "In recognition of his leading role in the field of Experimental Theatre". As Artistic Director of CPR and its predecessor Cardiff Laboratory Theatre Richard Gough has curated and organised numerous international theatre projects over the last 20 years including conferences, summer schools, workshop and festivals, and he has produced nationwide tours of experimental theatre and traditional dance/ theatre ensembles from around the world. Most notably, he was the first director to invite both the Polish director, Jerzy Grotowski and his company, and the Brazilian director Augusto Boal to the UK - both of whom have greatly influenced British performance.
