Arts Training Wales

Arts Training Wales is a new membership organisation providing information, support and advocacy on training and professional development within the arts in Wales. See www.a-t-w.com. It has a large Board with a representative from the various areas of the arts; I am currently the rep for 'behind the scenes' performing arts - technical theatre, stage management, design, etc. ATW is here to act as a source of information and help, and as a research and lobbying organisation to make more and better training available to more practicioners. (ATW isn't directly a training provider, nor does it distribute funding for training.)

ATW is currently carrying out research for the Arts Council and ELWa about training and career progression. To contribute to this work, and to make contact with as many arts practioners as possible, we have arranged a series of introductory Steering Group meetings. The meetings for technical theatre will be on 4th October at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, and on 10th Jan at Clwyd Theatr Cymru in Mold. Both meetings will start at 2:00pm, aiming to finish by 5:00pm.

If you would like to attend, drop a note to admin@a-t-w.com to give us a clue about numbers; if you have things you'd like to say about training or career development, but can't make either of these dates, drop me an email and I'll get your points into the pot!
