artistic policy We are an amatuer dramatic society based in Swansea who have exclusively performed the works of Gilbert and Sullivan for almost seventy years. We currently perform our major annual production during late September at the Taliesin Arts Centre within the campus of Swansea University. Throughout the year we also perform many concerts at a variety of venues in the Swansea area.

Uplands Arts was founded in 1942 by Mr Jim Barlow and Mrs Reggie Morgan and was known as The Brynmill and Uplands Youth Club (Music Group). The first show "The Gondoliers" was performed in Pantygwydr Church Hall, Uplands. Apart from the war years, the society has performed a Gilbert and Sullivan opera annually until the present time.

In 1949 the company moved to the Llewelyn Hall in the Y.M.C.A under the new name of Uplands Arts where we remained apart from a brief stay at Bryn Road Scout HQ for many years. The Patti Pavillion became the new and larger venue for three years before the company moved to our current home at the Taliesin.
