synopsis: Directed and performed by Phillip Zarrilli, Patricia Boyette and Peader Kirk A rare UK performance of Samuel Beckett's short plays "Ohio Impromptu", "Not I", "Act without words 1" and "Rockabye". Stories of love, loss, betrayal and memory, Beckett's silent, desperate works test the limits of attention, imagination and control, from both performers and audience alike. Phillip Zarrilli and Patricia Boyette's production explores a psychophysical approach to Beckett's theatrical minimalism, after training in Asian martial meditation arts. "Like faintly recalled dream fragments the images are subjective, and often spellbinding. They insinuate themselves into the viewer's mind and heart." LA Times |
