Speakeasy by Michael Bogdanov |
First presented in 2003 by Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama |
synopsis: Written and directed by Michael Bogdanov based on Moliere's Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme. Music by John Gould. It's Christmas 1933 in Al Capone's Chicago and prohibition is drawing to an end. So is this the right time for small-time crook Giovanni Jordani to swap the Mafia for Mozart and get the gang singing like canaries? This joint is going to be jumping in a musical like you ain't ever seen before. We open on St Valentine's Day - be there or the boys are comin' round for a massacre! |
