First presented in 2006 by Sgript Cymru |
cast size:2
synopsis: (Premiering at The Sherman Theatre, Cardiff in November 2006 and touring Wales from 8th November – 2nd December) Roy, a 59-year-old hospice nurse, living with an infirm, alcoholic mother is in denial about his sexuality. Ceri, a 39-year-old auxiliary is trapped in a sexless marriage. When they meet the flame of a possible relationship flickers into life, but can it be sustained, or are they both too emotionally damaged to make it work? With dark humour and pathos, we follow Roy and Ceri’s epic attempt to turn the clock back, to recapture the magic of long-forgotten youth. And when all is said and done, is not the reassuring hand of friendship a thousand times more precious than a quick grope in the dark? Alun Ap Brinley will play the character of Roy, the eccentric and neurotic manager of the care home and Eiry Hughes will play the character of Ceri, the bored housewife trapped in a life of guilt due to a drunken act of rage |
