Equaldoubt are a new professional physical and visual theatre company based in Cardiff and working in and around Wales. Established in summer 2004. The current touring performances are '3' and 'Suffocation'. 'Suffocation' is the debut performance from Equaldoubt which is still being booked. It is a piece which consciously straddles the divisions between Dance, Theatre and Mime and tracks a couple's relationship in apparent decay. It has been shown in Wales, England and Mexico and will be presented on the London ArtsDepot Festival - 'DepotUntapped' (June 8th 06). '3' began as an experimental process collaboration between Equaldoubt and Darkman for Experimentica '05 at Chapter. Now it is a piece in its own right and is being developed by Equaldoubt and invited artists. The new constellation premiered the work on FRESH festival 06 in Reading and will continue to expand themes and material toward an autumn tour (06). Latest News. In November 05 Eqdbt went to Mexico with the help of WAI to take part in the 3rd International Festival of Mime in Puebla. They gave a one week workshop in Physical Theatre and Voice work as well as performing Suffocation twice to a sold out 800 seater audience (Suffocation was originally designed for a sweaty 60 capacity max!) In December 05 Eqdbt previewed some new choreographic ideas as part of the WiD Dance Bytes scheme. 2006 has so far seen a closed presentation of 'Trails' - their new and most ambitious project to date based on the Faustus Legends - to ACW and guests; A short tour of England with Suffocation; two invited residencies (BAC and South Hill Park); Workshops with MMUniversity and BAC's 'After Hours' scheme and the unveiling of the re-worked performance '3'. In May we will be back in Chapter with a continuingly developing '3' for three nights, aptly on the 30th, 31st and 32nd (Ok, 1st of June). Equaldoubt makes experimental physical and visual work that explores the edges of emotions through physicality, music and theatre. |
