The Welsh College of Music and Drama (WCMD) has a unique place as Wales' only specialist centre for professional training in music and drama. It offers a range of Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Advanced full-time and part-time courses in Music, Acting, Theatre Design, Stage Management, Arts Management and Music Therapy and former students are to be found working with professional companies throughout the world. The College is an international community attracting students from Wales, other parts of the UK, Europe and abroad. Equity is the principal trade union for professional performers. The Magdalena Project - international network of women in contemporary theatre

The Magdalena Project was established in Wales in 1986. Since then, thousands of women theatre practitioners all over the world have been and are engaged in many projects that have created opportunities for artistic collaboration and strong networks of support.

In September 1999, the Arts Council of Wales ceased its revenue support of the Magdalena Project. By consequence, this meant that the Project no longer had a base in Cardiff or an administrative structure to maintain.
