Amdanom Ni / About Us (Scroll Down for English)

Ers 1986, mae Dawns Dyfed (Prosiect Dawns Gogledd Dyfed pryd hynny) wedi darparu profiadau a chyfleoedd dawns i'r gymuned ledled y gorllewin. Dechreuodd Dawns Dyfed gan Margaret Ames yn Aberystwyth fel prosiect dawns er mwyn darparu gwasanaeth i bobl ifanc, pobl ag anableddau, ac i oedolion. Cyrff Ystwyth oedd un o'r grwpiau cyntaf i'w sefydlu ac mae'r cwmni yn paratoi gwaith yn yr hydref a'r gaeaf i'w berfformio ledled yr ardal yn ystod tymor y gwanwyn. Y cynhyrchiad diweddaraf oedd Disgynnwn: We All Fall Down o dan arweiniad Jason Wood, oedd yn rhan o'n prosiect, Lledypen, a ariennir gan CCC er mwyn dod gwaith creadigol pobl ag anawsterau dysgu i gynulleidfa eang.

Un o'r bobl bwysicaf yn natblygiad y prosiect a'r proses o ffurfio Dawns Dyfed fel cwmni ambarl dawns ar gyfer Sir Dyfed oedd y diweddar Clifford McLucas.

Dan ddylanwad Euros Lewis, Darlithydd Gofal Theatr Felinfach ar y pryd, symudodd swyddfeydd y cwmni i gampws y Theatr ym 1994. Wrth i'r cwmni dyfu, daeth Gill Wickenden fel Cydlynydd Adnoddau tan 1998.

Ym 1995, ymunodd Solveig Frykman-Lloyd, oedd yn dysgu dawns yn ardal de Sir Dyfed, Dawns Dyfed. Daeth Wapiti, ei chwmni dawns ar gyfer oedolion yn ardal Caerfyrddin, o dan ambarl Dawns Dyfed. Yn 2001, dathlodd Wapiti ei ddegfed penblwydd. Mae Solveig yn awr yn gyfrifol am waith Dawns Dyfed yn Sir Gaerfyrddin.

Ym 1998, cyflwynodd Dawns Dyfed gais i Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru ar gyfer y cynllun Loteri 'Celfyddydau i Bawb' er mwyn ehangu ac i ddatblygu'n gwasanaeth i'r tair sir yng ngorllewin Cymru.

Ymunodd Leigh Verrill-Rhys 'r cwmni fel y Rheolydd ym mis Ionawr 2000 a dechreuodd cyfnod cyffrous o dyfiant. Ym mis Ebrill, cyflogwyd Gillian Henry fel Animateur Dawns Sir Benfro. Yn fuan, ymunodd Catherine Young i fod yn gyfrifol am holl waith Ceredigion.

Yn ystod y ddwy flynedd nesaf, ddatblygodd y gwaith ieuenctid yn Sir Benfro a Sir Gaerfyrddin ar sail Cwmni Dawns Ieuenctid Ceredigion.

Ym mis Awst 2002, cyflogwyd Cate Lovett fel Animateur Dawns Sir Benfro. Roedd Cate yn dysgu dawns yn y sir am ddwy flynedd ar l hyfforddi yng Nghaerdydd. Cyn ei hyfforddiant proffesiynol, roedd hi'n un o ddawnswyr cynnar Cwmni Dawns Ieuenctid Ceredigion.

Since 1986, Dyfed Dance (North Dyfed Dance Project at that time) has provided experiences and opportunities in dance for the community throughout the west. Margaret Ames established Dyfed Dance in Aberystwyth as a dance project to provide a service to young people, people with disabilities and adults. Cyrff Ystwyth was one of the first groups to be established and the company prepares work in the fall and winter to be performed throughout the region during the spring. Their latest production was Disgynnwn:We All Fall Down under the direction of Jason Wood, as part of our ACW funded project, Lledypen, which aimed to bring the creative work of people with learning difficulties to a wider public.

One of the most important people in the development of the project and the process of forming Dyfed Dance as an umbrella company for dance in the county of Dyfed was the late Clifford McLucas.

At the behest of Euros Lewis, Theatr Felinfach's Lecturer in Charge at the time, the company moved its offices to the Theatr campus in 1994. As the company grew, Gill Wickenden became the Resources Coordinator until 1998.

In 1995, Solveig Frykman-Lloyd, who had been teaching dance in the southern areas of Dyfed, joined the company. Wapiti, her dance company for adults in the Carmarthen area, came under Dyfed Dance's umbrella. In 2001, Wapiti celebrated its tenth anniversary. Solveig is now responsible for all Dyfed Dance's work in Carmarthenshire.

In 1998, Dyfed Dance presented an application to the Arts Council of Wales 'Arts for All' Lottery scheme in order to extend and develop our service to the three counties in west Wales.

As Company Manager, Leigh Verrill-Rhys joined the company in January of 2000 and an exciting period of growth began. In April, Gillian Henry became the Pembrokeshire Dance Animateur. Soon thereafter, Catherine Young, a recent university graduate, joined Dyfed Dance to take on all the work in Ceredigion.

In the next two years, youth work developed in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire on the model of Cwmni Dawns Ieuenctid Ceredigion.

In August 2002, Cate Lovett was employed as the Pembrokeshire Dance Animateur. Cate had been teaching dance in the county for two years, following her professional training in Cardiff. Before this, she was one of the early members of Cwmni Dawns Ieuenctid Ceredigion.
