Gwent Young People’s Theatre provides a high quality youth theatre service. Productions, performances and workshops the opportunity for young people to experience live theatre and to develop an appreciation of literature and the performing arts, provoke discussion of current issues, and inspire an interest in the world in which they live.
The nature of the company’s work is all inclusive and contributes to the development of an interest in our cultural heritage and the diversity of the world around us through performances, workshops and youth theatre activities designed to complement local initiatives and strategies. |

Gwent Young People’s Theatre was established in 1956. It is based at the Melville Theatre at the Drama Centre, Abergavenny, a well resourced intimate theatre providing rehearsal and performance facilities for the youth theatre, film clubs, and small scale touring companies. The members of the Youth Theatre also perform in the open air at Abergavenny Castle. |
