Theatr Powys is an exciting and innovative Company, devising and creating original, participatory theatre-in-education programmes for students of all ages in Powys schools.

The Company also undertakes a programme of Community Touring Theatre to young people and their families in village halls, community centres, arts centres and theatres across Powys and wider Wales.

Theatr Powys is committed to young people; their experiences, problems and engagement with the world. The condition of the young and the role of the imagination in the free development of young people, is central to the artistic and educational agenda of the Company. Further to our touring work we are proud to manage the award winning Mid Powys Youth Theatre.
brief history
hanes cryno
For almost thirty years Theatr Powys has lived in mid Wales developing close and lasting relationships with schools, community groups and individuals in pursuit of work that can truly be called a community provision.

One of the original network of eight Welsh, young peoples and community Company's, we continue to recieve support from the Powys County Council and the Arts Council of Wales. Numerous theatre artists have worked with us and return to work again.

The Company has contributed significantly to the development of new writing in Wales and the youth theatre provision has offered a secure grounding for young people who have chosen to continue their training in the theatre arts.

In the midst of an ever changing and insecure funding environment This Company remains committed to the methodology and practice of TIE and the production of new plays that build a broad community audience of young and old alike.
