Jo Shapland creates performance, choreographs, makes short films, live and visual art and music usually under the umbrella name MAN TROI. Her current installation/performances enquire into presence and memory and embrace her interest in Homeopathy and its links to alchemy; documentations of performance go through processes to become independent works. She is currently in the middle of her Arts Council of Wales funded residency/project (IN)SCAPE at Oriel Mostyn, Llandudno, that will be toured to venues in Wales. She has worked, and shown her work, throughout the U.K. and across Europe and Asia.

As a freelance performer and artist she has performed and toured a new work by Charlotte Vincent and commissioned by Welsh Independent Dance in 2005; she also collaborated on a project at her home in St Dogmaels, Pembrokeshire with Phillip Babot and was a founder member of west Wales collective, Ointment. Having performed and toured widely, most recently with artists and companies such as Sean Tuan John, U-Man-Zoo, Carlson Dance Company, Gekidan Kaitaisha (Theatre of Deconstruction), future collaborations include Told By The Wind with Phillip Zarrilli and Kaite O?Reilly and Someplace, part of Wales Arts International?s Dance Encounters/ Locator.

Since graduating from London Contemporary Dance School in 1987 she has had a continuing commitment to training and personal development - particularly Eastern Martial and Meditation Arts-based psychophysical actor training - in the UK and abroad. She has extensive experience teaching dance, movement and performance skills to people of varying ages and abilities.
