Re-Live is the only theatre company in the UK that work excelusivley with and for older people on their memories and stories. Over the past 4 years Re-Live have staged some incredible live shows with older people. Our performers are not celebrities, they are ordinary people like you and me. And yet their stories are extraordinary. Their stories have been making audiences laugh and cry across Wales and Ireland and will soon be making an impact in Japan too. Chapter Arts Centre and Re-Live have been awarded a prestigious 3 year grant by the Baring Foundation to continue their innovative and groundbreaking theatre work with older people in Wales. Chapter and Re-Live are the only company in Wales to receive a grant, and one of only 8 companies in the UK. Re-Live have recently returned from Ireland, where seven older people from Wales were a huge success performing their stories onstage at the Bealtaine Festival of arts for older people. “ It was dream to be performing at the age of 83 in Dublin. Unforgettable” Eirlys Loddo, Re-Live performer. Dominic Campbell, Artistic Director of the Bealtaine Festival wrote: “The reception to the performance and post show discussion were amongst the most exciting moments I’ve spent in a theatre. Your work helps us to make sense of this new culture we are all aging into” Karin Diamond (Co-director of Re-Live) has recently been awarded a Winston Churchill travel fellowship, and is going to Japan in November for two months to research the use of theatre and storytelling with older people with dementia. Chapter and Re-Live are developing international links and feel Wales could be at the forefront of the growing global debate on creative aging. |
