Created by Guinean choreographer Idrissa Camara in 2010. Ballet Nimba is an African Dance Theatre Company, combining traditional and contemporary Guinean dance with live music from some of West Africa's finest musicians. Ballet Nimba is based on the African Ballet a tradition born in The Republic of Guinea to tell the mythologies and history of the region using artistic choreography and made famous by Les Ballets Africains du Guinee. Nimba aims to raise the profile of this exciting and compelling art form and introduce it to UK audiences. Ballet Nimba has a significant presence on the UK Black Dance scene and is funded by the Arts Council of Wales and supported by ADAD and Arts Council England. |
