“Honesty, integrity, compassion & simplicity. Humility, reflection, respect and personal responsibility, the celebration of diversity. The courage to be happy and to embrace unconditionally the positive regard of ourselves and others. Theatr Fforwm Cymru want to embody these values in all that we do, so that we co-create a lasting space in which our innate wisdom can unfold and nurture well-being within ourselves, our communities, and our world. All this with the knowledge that words are meaningless without action.” ThFfC aims to provide safe, educative, energising and empowering environments where everyone can learn together. Our charitable objectives are to work towards the health and wellbeing of the people of wales through involvement with the arts, and specifically through the use of Forum Theatre. Forum Theatre is ‘rehearsal for reality’, using drama to explore life challenges and personal choices, and originates in the work of Augusto Boal and his ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’. The work we do deals with emotional intelligence and provides opportunities for people to recognise their own damaging patterns, while providing them with a language for understanding that can be carried forwards into their lives and personal development. The aim is to contribute to the emotional wellbeing of the nation, and towards that end we have worked with many diverse groups across Wales (and also elsewhere in Europe), but especially those socially marginalised, and socially and economically excluded.
