I am a composer, arranger, musical director and musician - playing guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, banjo and accordion. I am also a lecturer to degree students in music composition at LIPA. my full cv can be viewed on the 'composers of wales' website, or can be requested in hard copy from my wife Ruth Mitchell-Davidson. But briefly, my work in theatre involved, being the composer in residence at the Library Theatre in Manchester in the past, and between 1984-1993 I orchestration the music for 'Merrily we Roll Along' for the Library Theatre, this was the European Premiere of this S Sondheim musical. Also orchestrated 'Follies' and again this was the European premiere of this musical of S Sondheims. I composed the original music for 'A Christmas Carol' for the Library Theatre, and the incidental music for 'The Crucible' by Arthur Miller, at the Library Theatre. I wrote the original score for 'The Golden Ass' which was performed for two weeks at the Edinburgh Festival. I wrote the orchestration of 'Baby' for the European Premiere and then national tour, for the Library Theatre. Also the orchestration of 'Carousel' for the Haymarket, Leicester. 'Company' by Stephen Sondheim for the Northcott Theatre, Exeter. In 2006 I orchestrated my original work of 'Follies' and this was hired through Josef Weinberger to the Royal and Derngate Theatre, Northampton. This received extremely good reviews from the press. In the past I organised the first ever community festival in prestwich, manchester and wrote the music for a community play called 'Coming Home' words written by Sue Ashby. I have also been involved in community plays and education projects. I have composed or arranged choral works, classical music, jazz, caribbean music, portuguese fado music, brazilian music, and also modern film music and recordings.
