The Magdalena Project : International Network of Women in Contemporary Theatre + Performance Studies : University of Wales, Aberystwyth Announce : The Articulate Practitioner - Articulating Practice : An International Forum : July 17th-22nd 2005 Led by an international forum of performance makers and guest scholars the programme will examine the nexus of practice and theory, to confront the language divides between artistic production and scholarship. The aim is to create an intellectual meeting ground - on the bridge between practice and academia - of ideas, words and works that challenge what it means to 'articulate practice'. We have invited established professional female practitioners who have developed distinct methods to communicate understandings of, and perspectives on, their performance work. Leading international scholars will offer radical critique on, and alternative languages for, these contemporary performance practices. This gathering is the essential stimulus for a forum of debate intended to identify, reveal, develop and record vocabularies that might be useful, to both practitioner and scholar, in the development of an understanding of the processes engaged in the making of effective performance; performance that survives within the public domain. Full details of the programme of performances, workshops and presentations will be published in February 2005. Demand will be high for this event and capacity limited; those who register an interest now will receive priority booking forms. We look forward to hearing from established practitioners, scholars, emerging artists and students for what promises to be a challenging and provocative 5 days.
