THE row over the Arts Council of Wales's controversial drama strategy has moved into the political arena with Labour MPs criticising the Assembly Culture Secretary Tom Middlehurst who has asked the arts quango to provide "good news". Llew Smith, MP for Blaenau Gwent, has criticised the arts quango for failing to award a franchise for young people's theatre to the established Gwent Theatre. It is now facing the prospect of closure and has appealed against the decision. Clwyd Theatr Cymru and Theatr Powys are also appealing against similar decisions, which saw them fail to win franchises in their respective areas.[READ THE FULL ARTICLE AT THE IC WALES WEB SITE ] |
