TODAY rehearsals started for Hijinx Theatre’s national tour of Wales and England for their spring show To Have and To Hold. To Have and To Hold will tour to gateway clubs, day centers, small scale theatres and other venues across Wales and England in an 11 week tour, that opens on 21st April at the Newport Mencap Gateway. Rehearsals began in earnest this morning at Chapter Arts Centre, Canton, Cardiff. The cast and production team will move to several venues around Cardiff during the rehearsal weeks, including visiting their new neighbours at Wales Millennium Centre, the Urdd Gobaith Cymru. Hijinx's Artistic Director, Gaynor Lougher is reunited with the talents of designer James North, and acclaimed musical director Chrys Blanchard for this heart-warming tale told through music, movement and text. In the cast returning to Hijinx are Eloise Howe (Into My Own 2004) and Emyr John (I Shot Buffalo Bill 2003). Two new faces are Peri Thomas and Ceris Jones. Jane Lalljee (Into My Own 2004 & I Shot Buffalo Bill 2003) returns as Company Stage Manager. To Have and To Hold explores the trials and tribulations, joys and jubilations of a brother and his dependent sister... when he gets married and she meets a very special friend. Hijinx Theatre is one of the UK's leading companies, with over twenty years experience of producing theatre for people with learning disabilities and their communities. We offer the thrill of live theatre; bringing to life characters, themes and issues which are relevant, challenging and inspiring. |
