Theatre in Wales

The latest theatre, dance and performance news

Following Wales Arts International’s Dance Encounters project earlier this year, Welsh choreographer and writer Eddie Ladd has been invited to perform her own work at the August Dance Festival in Estonia’s Capital next week.

On Monday 22 August, Eddie Ladd and Marc Rees will give three performances of Sawn-off Scarface, a duet and a semi-ironic choreographic tribute to Brian de Palma’s notorious 1983 movie with Al Pacino, as part of Estonia’s main international dance festival

Sawn-off Scarface reduces nearly three hours of film action to 12 minutes. In the performance Marc Rees narrates a short, tough synopsis of the plot, as Eddie Ladd performs on something close to a sticky, wet nightclub floor before the two join for the piece’s silent conclusion.

The August Dance Festival is a contemporary performing arts festival, which aims to introduce a new generation of performing arts artists from all over the world to the Baltic region.
