‘REFUSE’ By Louise Osborn Music by Nick Wayland-Evans A powerful and challenging new play exploring many of the complex issues that concern young people in today’s confusing climate of sexual explicitness, peer pressure and conflicting messages. Suitable for 14 years upwards and adults. ‘Refuse’ tours to Secondary Schools from September 20th to November 25th 2005. Performances and workshop activities create access and participation for young people to experience live theatre and develop an appreciation of literature and the creative arts, provoke discussion of current issues and inspire an interest in the world in which they live. The company also creates opportunities for young people to participate in theatre activities under the direction of professional theatre practitioners through the Gwent Young People’s Theatre. Gwent Theatre is based at the Melville Theatre in Abergavenny, a highly active and well resourced venue for small scale touring companies, films, youth theatre and arts activities. A newly commissioned production for Primary Schools, touring to schools January – March 2006. ‘ONE HUNDRED MILLION FOOTSTEPS’ by Diane Samuels The story of two children and their eventful journey to the Ash Mountain, inspired by the children’s crusades of the 13th century.
