A night at the Opera.

‘Newport has a secret. And it’s a secret worth uncovering, with a slow but sure following that expands with each event.’ Samantha Gough (Reviewer for Theatre-In-Wales website)

The Academy of Musical Theatre Wales hosts a cabaret on the third Friday of every month at its home: 1 Queens Hill Crescent (Newport Pantomime and Musical Society Hall), Newport, and this month we are excited to announce our next cabaret programme ‘A Night at the Opera’.

The Academy has been established for a year and has just seen the successful graduation of it’s first-year of students. Drew Baker (Principal) says ‘I am delighted that my first intake of students have all graduated securing top West-End agents and even top West-End contracts.’ The second-year of performers will arrive in Newport next month to begin their intensive professional singing, acting and dance training, and to welcome them, on Friday 21st October at 7.30pm the Academy will be holding a premier performance of ‘A Night at the Opera’ to which we hope you can come along too!

For one night only, talented tenor Tim Whiting of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will delight you with his fine voice, singing favourite songs and arias form the world of opera – ranging from Bach through to Gershwin. In this unique performance, Tim will be joined by Drew Baker (tenor) and Louise Maddy (soprano), whose memorable voices will further charm you into enjoying the sparkling sounds of ‘A Night at the Opera.’

Tickets cost £5 including a glass of wine or orange juice, and you can pay on the door. However, we would recommend that you take advantage of our exclusive promotional offer. The Academy is excited to announce that pre-paid bookings made by October 1st will receive a free ticket with every ticket booked. Yes- that’s buy-one-get-one-free, two tickets for £5!! Book now to avoid disappointment, cheques can be made payable to The Academy of Musical Theatre Wales, 4 Ty Du View, Rogerstone, Newport, NP10 9BQ or alternatively you can ring our box-office on (01633) 264606.
