Fresh from the 8th International Figure Theatre Festival in Norway and a triumphant world premiere, Green Ginger is back on home turf with its latest show Rust. Devised and created by the company, directed by Flick Ferdinando and with original music by Simon Preston, Rust is the tale of two pirate radio stations anchored in the same murky coastal waters. One transmits from an ageing lightship; its arch-rival broadcasts from a submarine lurking just beneath the oil-slicked surface. Something has to give. Or be taken. Rust is a fast-moving story of truth and treachery, piracy and passion, sex, death and vinyl. Trademarks of Green Ginger's theatremongery - grotesque puppets, animated sets and shiploads of absurd humour - are welded into a dark comic-book vision of low-life on high seas. Norway's daily national newspaper Dagbladet raved about Rust, remarking on the "superb technique and acting...Green Ginger create pure magic on stage". With fans including Terry Gilliam - 'Green Ginger pushes puppetry to the limits, and then disturbingly, a bit further', Green Ginger is an award-winning UK export and is currently celebrating 25 years of touring its brand of lunatic fringe theatre throughout the world in thirteen languages.
