Enjoy a Merry Christmas at Wales Millennium Centre

With Bryn Terfel set to light the stage, the Christmas family musical The Wizard of Oz and other Christmas concerts planned throughout December – local residents and visitors will be spoilt for choice this Christmas at Wales Millennium Centre (WMC).

Wales Millennium Centre will be getting into ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ when Odyssey Theatre, in collaboration with the BBC National Chorus of Wales, will be presenting a play with music for four nights from November 30 to December 3.

Christmas concerts that are proving extremely popular include Christmas Presence starring flutist Sir James Galway and his wife Lady Jeanne Galway on 3 December as well as Bryn at Christmas on 10 and 11 December, which sold out within weeks of going on sale.

Performing at WMC for over three weeks is the must-see family musical The Wizard of Oz starring Coronation Street’s Beverley Unwin, actress Susie Blake, as the Wicked Witch of the West. WMC restaurant partner BRAZZ is offering a special ‘munchkin menu’ for the period, where children up to 10 eat free when accompanied by a paying adult, so bring the whole family for a meal when you come to see the show.

Programming & Marketing Director at WMC Fiona Allan comments: “We wanted to offer something extra special for our customers in December, so we’ve programmed a production of Wizard of Oz that will appeal as much to adults who love the film as to children and families. Coupled with a busy programme in our Weston Studio theatre and free foyer performances on the Tesco Stage, there is definitely something to appeal to everyone at WMC this Christmas.”

Showing from 13 to 31 December, The Wizard of Oz is based on the classic Oscar winning Judy Garland film which features some of the best known songs ever written, including ‘We’re Off To See The Wizard’, ‘Follow The Yellow Brick Road’ and the unforgettable ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’.

The first two performances of The Wizard of Oz (13 & 14 December) are priced from only £5-£10, with tickets for all other performances priced from £10-£22 with generous family and group discounts. Children who dress up as Wizard of Oz characters attending any of the Saturday matinees will receive a special Christmas present.
