The Unusual Stage School - a dynamic new performing arts project

Disability Arts Cymru are looking for 12 people from all over Wales to take part in a residential stage school from the 13th to the 23rd of June 2006.

The 11-day residential acting course takes place in Pembrokeshire at Clynfyw Countryside Centre, set in a beautiful accessible organic farm near the small village of Abercych, in-between Newcastle Emlyn and Cardigan.

You will learn a variety of theatre skills, leading to a performance at Theatr Mwldan in Cardigan.  The course will include:

Acting Skills – how to put together a character, understand and deliver dialogue, be effective on stage, interact with other performers
• Improvisation Techniques – ever watched Whose Line Is It Anyway?  Learn how it’s done
• Devising Skills – explore how to put together a scene or scenes and create brand new characters and dialogue
• Voice and Speech – develop your vocal skills as a performer
• Mime and Movement – learn the rudiments of mime and how to make your body inhabit the characters you play

The Unusual Stage School is open to any Disabled person or Deaf person aged 18 or over living in Wales. You don’t need previous theatre experience but you do need to be serious about performing.  We’ll provide a supportive, relaxed, friendly atmosphere and make sure that everyone’s access requirements are met. You need to be enthusiastic, good at getting on with others and passionate about performing.

We’re holding auditions around the country in early spring. And the course is free!  Interested?  Please contact us for an application pack.
