What is it all about?Big Arts Week Wales is an exciting initiative inviting creative professionals to volunteer their time and share their skills to inspire local children in primary and secondary schools throughout Wales during the week of 19 - 23 June 2006. What is the definition of an artist? Artists of all kinds are needed, from actors to make up artists, painters to performers and composers to designers; from writers to dancers, architects to bookbinders and sculptors to illustrators. In fact any professional working in the creative industries with a passion for the arts is invited to register. What is the aim of the Big Arts Week? The aim is to bring the nation's most inspiring art and artists into classrooms across the country. Big Arts Week Wales is a celebration of creative achievements and is also an attempt to introduce schools to artists and disciplines available in their community. How much time does an artist need to give? The time an artist can give varies enormously and artists decide themselves. Anything between one hour and one week can make a huge difference to the children. Artists can give a talk, demonstrate a skill, or work with the pupils on a creative project. What does an artist need to do? The first thing an artist needs to do is register. This can be either done on line at www.bigartsweek.com or by sending in a registration form. The deadline for registration is 1 April 2006. When is Big Arts Week 2006? Big Arts Week is exclusively in Wales this year and takes place from Monday 19 to Friday 23 June 2006. Mae Wythnos Fawr y Celfyddydau Cymru yn fenter gyffrous sy’n gwahodd pobl broffesiynol greadigol i roi o’u hamser a rhannu’u sgiliau o'u gwirfodd i ysbrydoli plant mewn ysgolion cynradd ac uwchradd ledled Cymru yn ystod yr wythnos 19 – 23 Mehefin 2006. Beth yw’r diffiniad o artist? Mae angen artistiaid o bob math, yn amrywio o gerddorion i artistiaid colur, o arlunwyr i berfformwyr ac o gyfansoddwyr i ddylunwyr; o awduron i ddawnswyr, o benseiri i rwymwyr llyfrau, ac o gerflunwyr i ddarlunwyr. Yn wir, gwahoddir unrhyw artist proffesiynol sy’n gweithio yn y diwydiannau creadigol ac sy’n frwd dros y celfyddydau i ymuno â ni. Beth yw nod Wythnos Fawr y Celfyddydau? Y nod yw dod â chelfyddydau ac artistiaid mwyaf ysbrydoledig y genedl i mewn i ystafelloedd dosbarth ledled y wlad. Dathliad o gyflawniadau creadigol yw Wythnos Fawr y Celfyddydau Cymru, ac mae hefyd yn ymdrech i gyflwyno ysgolion i artistiaid a disgyblaethau sydd ar gael yn eu cymuned. Faint o amser mae angen i artist ei roi? Mae’r amser y gall artist ei roi yn amrywio’n fawr iawn, a’r artistiaid fydd yn penderfynu ar hyn eu hunain. Gall unrhyw beth rhwng un awr ac un wythnos wneud gwahaniaeth aruthrol i’r plant. Gall artistiaid roi anerchiad, arddangos sgil, neu weithio gyda’r disgyblion ar brosiect creadigol.
