Theatr Iolo celebrates World Theatre for Children and Young People Day |
Theatr Iolo joins companies from around the world in a celebration of the work of thousands of practitioners, artists and administrators who dedicate their lives to presenting theatre for children and young people. The company will be presenting a special performance of On the Edge by Glenys Evans to a sold out audience at Llanover Hall who will help commemorate the day.On the Edge is the story of an unexpected reunion between a school bully and his autistic victim. They meet as young adults in the workplace, where their past lives unravel as they both fall in love with the same person. Following the launch of the play at Ysgol Plasmawr, On the Edge has been touring to High Schools in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan since January and has been receiving rave reviews: I was completely overwhelmed and lost myself in the play. At times I felt so sorry for ‘Dan’ and was restraining myself from shouting something out. Nicholas, Ysgol Plasmawr, Cardiff Absolutely invaluable and essential in the school community. Siriol Burford, Assistant Headteacher, Ysgol Plasmawr` The drama had a very strong effect on me and only increased my encouragement against mick-taking and bullying. The play was very sad and as a fourteen year old rugby player I shouldn’t admit it!! This company is consistently good and offers some of the best acting to be seen in Wales – don’t let anyone tell you that community and Young People’s Theatre is less rigorous than main-stage work… or make them get to see On The Edge.
