Hard Graft theatre company will be performing their brand new project “The Big Adventure” this May. But true to the Hard Graft style they take performing to extraordinary lengths as they will be walking from Bangor to Boston (Lincolnshire) as they do it. To make it even tougher they’ll have no money, nowhere to sleep and no idea where their adventures might take them. But Hard Graft Theatre Company are no strangers to performing in alternative spaces, they are renowned for their innovation having already performed in shops, offices, houses, even narrow boats, with their sell out show ‘Thick As Thieves’. “I’ve always wanted to take good entertainment to the heart of community” said Mark Whiteley, artistic director of Hard Graft. “walking is a slow business, you see life at a different pace. In a world where we fly around at 100 miles an hour it’s a refreshing change to slow the tempo ”. The Big Adventure is the story of their story, two lone walkers with no money, no bed and no way of knowing if they’ll get to the end. Half improvised, half scripted weaves folk law an with urban myth. “We are taking a big risk with this show,” said Whiteley. “We’ve picked up stories from everywhere, interlaced cultures and styles to build our biggest adventure yet.” The Big Adventure opens 2nd May 2006 at 20:00 in the Capel Curig Community Centre, North Wales and travels 20 miles east every day until 16th May when it reaches Blackfriars Arts Centre in Boston……hopefully.
