This week, Christmas came early at The Riverfront in Newport as the cast of The Riverfront’s 2006 panto turned out in full flamboyant costume for a photo shoot. This years’ panto, Cinderella will run from December 7 – 31 2006 and stars Pobol y Cwm and Emmerdale actor and recent Welsh BAFTA winner Brian Hibbard as an Ugly Sister, former Generation Game host and all around entertainer Isla St Clair as the Fairy Godmother and features Barnaby as Buttons. The Riverfront is proud to present this fun, family-friendly pantomime in association with the Hiss and Boo Company. Following the success of last year’s Dick Whittington, also produced with Hiss and Boo, this year sees a glittering version of Cinderella complete with snowfall and a wonderful set. The rest of the cast for this traditional family panto includes Julie Hobbs as Baroness Hard-up, Richard Bardsley as Baron Hard-up, Alan Bowles as Prince Charming, Jacquelyn Kent as Cinderella, Cardiff based actor Lee Mengo as the second Ugly Sister and, of course, two sets of talented children from the Newport area. This will be Brian Hibbard’s first panto in Wales. The Ebbw Vale born actor who now lives in Cardiff said, “I am thoroughly looking forward to putting a frock on in Wales for the first time!” The Riverfront's Director, Nicolas Young, said, “We were delighted to welcome this strong cast to Newport this week: rehearsals don't start until November, but the photo shoot was a lot of fun and points towards another successful collaboration with Hiss and Boo.'" Tickets are on sale now and cost £5.00 - £14.50. To book, please call 01633 656 757 or visit www.newport.gov.uk/riverfront |
