Top Welsh newsreader takes part in latest Odyssey Theatre production |
Sara Edwards, one of Wales’ best known and loved presenters, makes a guest appearance in Odyssey Theatre’s latest production The Ozard of Wiz.Ms Edwards, a patron of Hijinx Theatre (Hijinx established Odyssey in 1999), said: “I am so pleased to be a Patron of this company. Its ethos of everyone, whatever their abilities, working together to produce wonderful results is one I admire very much. I think The Ozard of Wiz is very symbolic of this in many ways really. Think of 'that other production' about a Wizard(!) and the yellow brick road; of Dorothy, in her ruby slippers dreaming of what lies beyond the horizon, and then discovering that one of the greatest gifts in life is friendship, and that, actually, there's 'no place like home.' Talking of ruby slippers, how nice that Odyssey is tackling this production in its Silver Jubilee year...! I've sat in the audience many times and been moved to laughter and tears by what I've seen and heard on stage. I just know that Ozard will prove to be yet another sparkling gem in the crown of a company that fully deserves your applause!” Taking on a role very familiar to Sara, she is the newsreader in the Land of Wiz. When reporting on strange events in this mysteries Land, Sara was a star, never stumbling over peculiar new words such a “sainsbergians” and “amalgamated supermarketians”. Sara Edwards is one of Wales’ best loved characters, presenting for many years on Wales Today. In recent months Sara has taken a break from TV to give birth to baby daughter Hannah, but is expected to make a return to our screens shortly. Meanwhile come and see Odyssey next week to catch sight of her! The wonderful wizardry of Odyssey will transport you beyond the rainbow as a terrible tornado throws farm girl Dorothy into a strange and mysterious land. Journeying down The Yellow Brick Road, Odyssey will bring their special twist to this magical tale as a fork in the road appears. Will Dorothy continue her journey to the Land of Oz where dreams come true or will she be drawn to the bright lights and glitzy sights in the Land of Wiz where Ozards rule? And where will her new friends Tin Man, Scarecrow and the Lion end up? Wherever her red shoes take her, Dorothy’s journey will be full of music, songs and memorable characters. Odyssey Theatre, a mixed ability participatory group including adults with learning disabilities is run by Wales Millennium Centre resident Hijinx Theatre.
