Tickets on sale now for a tantalising autumn at The Riverfront

Tickets on sale now for a tantalising autumn at The Riverfront The Riverfront is thrilled to announce a tantalising autumn season for 2006 with plenty to tempt all tastes! With over 100 performances scheduled, here’s a taster to wet your appetites...

Comedy plays a massive part in this autumn’s programme. The increasingly popular Comedy Shed on the last Friday of every month has been increased to the last Friday and Saturday of every month. Three hilariously funny and established names will perform solo too: Adam Hills, Alan Carr and Jeff Green.

Classical music commences with the return of The Lochrian Ensemble with Handel by Candlelight and is followed in October by the Newport International Competition for Young Pianists.

Great entertainment on the drama front begins with The Garden, a moving story inspired by The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Kenneth Branagh’s multi-award winning comedy The Play What I Wrote arrives in October with a celebration of Britain’s greatest comedy double act Morecambe and Wise. The only show with a surprise celebrity guest at every performance...which celebrity will come to Newport?! Next is a fabulous performance in Welsh, Bitsh which is an adaptation of the novel by the same name written by Welsh writer Eurig Wyn.

Family performances in the autumn include Message in a Bottle and Bink & The Riddle of the Sphinx. Then of course there’s Cinderella, The Riverfront’s 2006 panto which will star Welsh Bafta winner Brian Hibbard as one half of the Ugly Sisters and all around entertainer and panto favourite Isla St Clair as The Fairy Godmother. Cinderella has already sold so well that an extra week of performances has been added to the run.

The Jazz Packet returns for its third season; hosted by DJ Andy Roberts, the autumn line-up includes Martha Skilton Quartet, Dave Stapleton Quintet and Azhar Saffar Quartet.

The wonderful Candoco dance company will produce some of the best dance you will see with both disabled and non-disabled performers and have rarely visited Wales before so don’t miss this opportunity to see them. Add to this return visits from Diversions and Independent Ballet Wales and it equals an amazing season of dance.
