The New York City Players make a rare visit to St Donats Arts Centre in November |
On Saturday 4th November, theatrical wunderkind, Richard Maxwell, the zany American playwright-composer-director and three members of his celebrated experimental theatre company, the New York City Players make a unique visit to St Donats Arts Centre.Richard Maxwell is listed in the '100 Most Creative People in Entertainment in America' and his idiosyncratic approach to theatre has brought him cult status and an Obie award. The company members will perform a devised piece based on Shakespeare's Henry IV Part 2. Expect a style that is unique - actors deliver their words with the minimum of expression that can be very funny and very illuminating. Richard Maxwell is the author and director of acclaimed plays that have been performed all over the world (his latest, 'The End of Reality', is playing the Barbican in London and Cardiff's Chapter in November). They are hailed by the critics as hilarious and trenchant looks at American passivity. The devised performance on the 4th November at 7.30pm will involve members of the New York City Players as well as Theatre Arts students from the United World College of the Atlantic based here at St Donats. The piece is supported by the Mousetrap Settlement Trust. |
