The Riverfront’s 2007 panto will be a glittering version of Cinderella. This traditional family panto will run from Thursday 7 December to Saturday 6 January 2007. This years panto stars Pobol y Cwm actor and Welsh BAFTA winner Brian Hibbard as an Ugly Sister, former Generation Game host and all around entertainer Isla St Clair as the Fairy Godmother and panto favourite Barnaby as Buttons. The rest of the cast for this traditional family panto includes Julie Hobbs as Baroness Hard-up, Richard Bardsley as Baron Hard-up, Alan Bowles as Prince Charming, Jacquelyn Kent as Cinderella, Cardiff based actor Lee Mengo as the second Ugly Sister and, of course, two sets of talented children from Newport. This fun-packed, family-friendly pantomime is again in association with the Hiss and Boo Company. Following the success of last year’s Dick Whittington, also produced with Hiss and Boo, this year sees a glittering version of Cinderella complete with snowfall and wonderful sets. Join Cinderella, the Ugly Sisters, Buttons, the Baron and Baroness and, of course, Prince Charming in this traditional story of glass slipper, good and evil, gold digging and true friendship. There are also lots of other Cinderella themed treats going on in the building throughout the Christmas season including workshops, competitions, a Cinderella exhibition in the gallery and a panto-themed New Years Eve fancy dress ball for the whole family. This fabulous event will be free of charge to anyone booking to either of the New Years Eve performances and there is sure to be lots of surprises.
