Welsh Independent Dance: dance bytes ‘Work in Progress’

Welsh Independent Dance: dance bytes ‘Work in Progress’ Four talented choreographers from Wales will be presenting their work at Chapter on November 29th and 30th as part of Welsh Independent Dance’s annual choreographic development programme, dance bytes. The programme began in April 1998 to support and facilitate the creation of new choreographic work from Wales based choreographers and has helped launch a number of choreographic careers including Jem Treays, Tanja Råman, Mr & Mrs Clark, Sandra Harnisch-Lacey and Eddie Ladd.

This is the second stage of the process, following on from the first stage ‘Presentations’ in September in which six choreographers each presented a 10 - 15 minute piece demonstrating their initial choreographic ideas. Four exciting projects were selected to develop the work further as part of the ‘Work In Progress’ platform. It promises to be an evening of innovative, experimental dance from emerging choreographers Chloe Loftus, Deborah Light, Ailsa Richardson and Jenny Pill.

Two of the four choreographers will then be selected by the panel to progress onto the third and final stage, ‘New Work’ to develop their work for small-scale touring. The final two pieces will be performed at Chapter during March 07 before touring to nine venues across Wales.

Tickets for dance bytes ‘Work on Progress’ on November 29th and 30th cost £7/£5.50 and can be obtained from Chapter’s box office on 029 20304400. Performances begin at 8pm. Early booking is recommended.
