A Cinderella Like No Other!

A Cinderella Like No Other!

Set in a "Vivienne Westwood meets Andy Warhol" 18th century France, this spectacular and hugely entertaining production of Scottish Ballet’s Cinderella, choreographed by celebrated Artistic Director Ashley Page, features sumptuous sets and costume designs by award-winning designer Antony McDonald.

Scottish Ballet will take you on a magical journey to a world of fantasy and beauty with its breathtaking version of the timeless classic, which shows at Wales Millennium Centre from 24-27 January.

The tale of a downtrodden girl turned into a beautiful princess, courtesy of a benevolent godmother and a handsome prince, has made Cinderella one of the most loved stories of all time.

Wales Millennium Centre’s Programming and Communications Director explains, “Ashley Page has turned around the fortunes of Scottish Ballet since taking over the helm a few years back and Cinderella shows just how far he, and the company, has come. Inventive choreography has been combined with Prokofiev's classic score to stunning effect. Both a feast for the ear as well as the eye, this handsome production is definitely worth bringing the whole family to see, especially as children’s tickets are just half the adult price.”

Scottish Ballet Orchestra will perform the vivacious and colourful Cinderella score, which was originally composed by Prokofiev for Bolshoi Ballet in 1944.

If you're looking for a very special gift this festive season, a treat for the family or simply want to experience ballet at its absolute best, don't miss out on this version of Cinderella – its an absolute must see!

Page’s quirky take on this classic tale has a style ranging from strong classical roots to more contemporary techniques and an energy that projects this timeless story into the twenty-first century.   Cinderella is the second full-length ballet from Ashley Page since his arrival at Scottish Ballet. Cinderella boasts a distinct theatrical vision with highly inventive choreography, created especially on the Company, which Ashley describes as being “incredibly fit and dancing the best it has ever been, with real personalities, confidence and maturity”.
