Contender - 'Fight for a Ticket'

From the team that brought you the smash hit Amazing Grace comes the musical Contender, the rags to riches story of Welsh boxing legend Tommy Farr. On a hot steamy night in the Yankee Stadium, New York, 1937, a boy from Tonypandy fights Joe Louis, the Brown Bomber, the greatest heavy-weight of them all, to a standstill. From the boxing booths of the Rhondda to fame and fortune, a combination of the fast life and a series of personal tragedies leaves Tommy Farr penniless. At the age of 37 he has only two options - go back down the mines or climb back in the ring...

Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story
It's had audiences on their feet in every corner of the globe and now Buddy, "The World's most successful Rock 'n' Roll musical" is back and ready to explode onto the stage in a toe tapping, hand clapping extravaganza! Phoenix Dance Theatre
Phoenix Dance Theatre returns to Swansea Grand Theatre with their first season under new Artistic Director, Javier De Frutos presenting a tempting selection of works by international choreographers.
Pequenas Alegrias, by acclaimed Brazilian choreographer, Henrique Rodovalho features multi-media projections and an infectious mix of samba and electronica. Javier De Frutos presents the violent, carnal Los Picadores, co-commissioned by the La Biennale di Venezia, to Stravinsky's dramatic Les Noces. Phoenix are privileged to stage a rare revival of Jane Dudley's 1938 masterpiece, Harmonica Breakdown. The company also present Henri Oguike's Signal to the pounding rhythms of Japanese taiko drums.

An irresistibly entertaining evening of ballet, from 21 dancers of the ever-popular and dynamic Images of Dance, directed by Margaret Barbieri (former Royal Ballet Principal), offers a delicious variety... and a trip through Europe, from the quintessentially English of Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, (newly choreographed by Matthew Hart) through Don Quixote's vigorous Russian view of Spanish dancing (staged by ex-Bolshoi star Irek Mukhamedov), to an irreverently wicked Anglo- Saxon take on Paris in the 1930s from Matthew Bourne's especially revived The Infernal Galop.

The Lady Boys of Bangkok - Divas Las Vegas Tour
This fabulous show combines the heady spice of Bangkok's exotic nightlife with the glamorous showgirl appeal of Las Vegas. 16 beautiful transvestites, direct from Bangkok, star in a glamorous and funny cabaret show - flamboyant costumes, painstakingly immaculate make-up and show-stopping choreography are the hallmarks of this truly unique blend of cabaret, dance and comedy.
The show has been a hit at the Edinburgh Festival and now embarks on a UK tour.

Retaining the traditional spirit of Taiko, yet creating a thoroughly contemporary sound, Mugenkyo are forging a new path with their innovative approach.

The Railway Children by E Nesbit
The Railway Children steams into Swansea Grand Theatre this summer. This fantastic adaptation of E Nesbit's Edwardian Adventure story is ideal family entertainment. You don't need to have read the novel or seen the film with Jenny Agutter to enjoy this nationally acclaimed production of a childhood classic. All the key adventures, including the landslide and the red petticoat' waving are all there and enhanced by a vibrant 'story book' set, (with tunnel, railway station and bridge), special effects and 'clever' puppetry. Swansea Institute Performing Arts Final Degree Show
Students from the final year of the performing arts and theatre BA degree course at Swansea Institute present heir usual exciting and eclectic mix of established plays and original performances. With eight different performance events on offer there will be something to satisfy everyone. Performances will also take place in the Depot Studio, Arts Wing on 4th June.

Tosca
Puccini's Tosca features magnificent sets designed by Vyacheslav Okunev, the celebrated designer for the Malyy Theatre and the Kirov in St Petersburg. Love, torture and treachery are set against the backdrop of Rome at its bloodiest, with the famous arias 'Vissi d'Arte' and 'E Lucevan le Stelle'. Two of the best roles for tenor and soprano, plus a truly blood curdling villain for the baritone. This production features a large cast and full orchestra with a children's choir within a specially devised cathedral setting in Act 1.
Sung in Italian with English surtitles
