Cardiff Shakespeare Readers continues to grow and are still hoping to meet new Shakespeare enthusiasts: Actors, Directors, Students, Shakespeare fans, Amateurs, Professionals, First-timers, Young and Old. On Sunday November 18th at 6.30pm, we will be reading 'The First Part of the Contention of the Two Famous Houses of York and Lancaster' more commonly known as 'HENRY VI PART 2'. Please note we have not read part 1 yet and this is deliberate! Part 2 was actually written before part 1 and hence requires no previous knowledge to read the play. (The whole scenario is a little reminiscent of the Star Wars prequel trilogy...) Cardiff Shakespeare Readers meet once a month, in an evening, and read aloud one of Shakespeare’s plays. Working through the plays in rough chronological order, the aim is to read the complete works of Shakespeare. If you don’t fancy reading, you can simply come along and listen. It's a great opportunity to further your knowledge of Shakespeare, meet other people in the industry, or just to socialise. There is no charge for attending, but everyone is expected to bring along a copy of the relevant script. A “Complete Works” is fine! All readings will commence with a brief introduction to the play and what Shakespeare was up to at this stage in his career. This reading will take place at 'Seren', which is a small turkish restaurant with a pleasant and appropriately sized function room. There is a bar downstairs to fuel our comedy engines. If anybody wants to eat before-hand, or to phone the restaurant for directions, phone 'Seren' on 02920 226242. The restaurant is a short walk from Chapter Arts Centre, down Cowbridge Road East heading towards town. 6.30pm at Seren on December 3rd. |
