‘Edsteddfod' ‘Edsteddfod’: Ed Thomas, Dramatist-Director: a symposium:
Saturday 19 January 2008, 10:00am-4:00pm

Aberystwyth University Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies presents a timely one-day retrospective of the theatre, film and television work of the man who has been hailed as Wales's greatest living dramatist. The 'Edsteddfod' takes the form of a sequence of rolling conversations, screenings, arguments and anecdotes, in which Ed Thomas himself provides the central reference and contact point, amidst a convocation of actors, practitioners, critics and scholars to consider and assess the importance of Thomas's work, with his companies Y Cwmni and Fiction Factory and internationally, and the challenges for art and Wales in the future.

In conversation with ED THOMAS as part of all sessions

Plus screenings of archive performance and promotional work by Y Cwmni and Fiction Factory, and the hour-long drama-documentary Cwmgiedd, Colombia: Cartre?

And an evening (7:45) performance of Stone City Blue, directed by David Ian Rabey:a production by third year students of Aberystwyth University Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies.
