![]() Now in its sixth year, Ffresh is the moving image festival of Wales for up-and-coming talent. 800 people attend Ffresh’s two jam-packed days in the Aberystwyth Arts Centre each year. The audience is primarily under- and post-graduates students studying the moving image including film, animation, television, interactive media and video. Tutors and lecturers together with special guests – professionals from a wide spectrum of the media industry – are also joined by a growing local audience who enjoy the event which is open to all. Lead speakers at this year’s event held at Aberystwyth Arts Centre include screenwriter Tim Firth (Calendar Girls, Kinky Boots); producer Sally Hibbin of Parallax Pictures (Land and Freedom, I Know You Know) and Torchwood, The Bench and Casualty writer Cath Treganna. There will be a special session of film in Africa with speakers including Cheick Fantamady, one the continent’s most successful new filmmakers, and the legendary filmmaker Gaston Kaboré. A rare insight will be given into the Cologne-based collective of VJs and graffiti artists Lichtfaktor who have developed the art form they call “lightwriting" – a process of combining elements of photography, painting/graffiti and stop-motion film-making techniques to dazzling effect. Also giving insight into the industry are Jason Mitchell (Development Producer, MTV), Jo Taylor (4Talent Manager, Channel 4), John Farrar (Senior Development Producer, Somethin Else) |
