PATRICIA HODGE STARS IN SPARKLING NEW COMEDY
THE CLEAN HOUSE at the New Theatre, Cardiff The brand new award-winning comedy The Clean House starring Patricia Hodge and Eleanor Bron visits the New Theatre prior to a West End run for just one week from Tuesday 15 to Saturday 19 April. Worlds collide in one painfully clean living room as four women and one man enter the mess and beauty of their own lives.

Lane (Patricia Hodge) has got everything, a successful surgeon for a husband and her own busy career as a doctor, and all she wants is a clean house. Unfortunately, Matilde, their young cleaner from Brazil hates to clean, instead preferring to dream up the perfect joke. Lane’s sister Virginia loves to clean and comes to a secret arrangement with Matilda behind Lane’s back. Meanwhile, Lane’s husband Charles (Oliver Cotton) becomes enchanted with one of his patients, the free-spirited Ana (Eleanor Bron) who casts a wonderfully surreal spell over The Clean House.

Leading a hugely talented cast is Patricia Hodge, who is best known for her numerous television credits include Rumpole of the Bailey and Jemima Shore Investigates. Most recently she has been on stage in His Dark Materials at the National Theatre and Boeing-Boeing and The Country Wife in the West End. She is joined by Eleanor Bron, whose extensive career includes recent appearances on film in Wimbledon and The House of Mirth and on stage in All About My Mother at the Old Vic and Oliver Cotton (numerous season with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre and most recently in Philadelphia Story at the Old Vic).

Playwright Sarah Ruhl was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for this poignant comedy, which has won huge critical acclaim.

The Clean House is at the New Theatre, Cardiff for one week from Tuesday 15 to Saturday 19 April with evening performances at 7.30pm and Thursday & Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets range from £7.50 - £26 and can be booked from the box office on 029 2087 8889 or online* at www.newtheatrecardiff.co.uk.
