Skins Choreographer Brings Show to Cardiff

Skins Choreographer Brings Show to Cardiff Rising star of the contemporary dance world, Hofesh Shechter who choreographed the memorable opening scene of last series of E4’s Skins, will be bringing his acclaimed works Uprising and In Your Rooms to Sherman, Cardiff this October.

Hofesh was commissioned to choreograph the opening scene of the second series of the controversial young drama, Skins, which was seen by millions of viewers.

Widely tipped by critics and colleagues alike as a ‘rising star of the contemporary dance world’, Hofesh Schechter’s new tour will be present two of his own urban dance pieces; Uprising and In Your Rooms.

Uprising opens with a bang as seven men, including Shechter, bombard the stage with furious energy, illuminated by strobes of light, then plunged into darkness. Six women join the company for In your rooms and leaven the atmosphere of male bonding with sensuality and despair.
This explosive work is set to a thrilling, pounding, power-charged score, composed by Shechter himself which is to be performed live.

Hofesh came to the UK as a drummer in a rock band and is a concert-trained percussionist, studying in Tel-Aviv and, later in Paris. He has performed with Israel’s internationally acclaimed Batsheva Dance Company where he worked with choreographers such as Ohad Naharin and Wim Vandekeybus. He made his choreographic debut in 2004.

The Hofesh Shechter Company will perform at Sherman, Cardiff on Thursday 23 October 7.30pm. Tickets are £14 (Reductions £12, Under 19s £8) and can be booked from Sherman’s Box Office on 029 2064 6900 or online at
