For India Dance Wales, 2008 is a very special year for it marks the 25th anniversary of dancer, choreographer and artistic director, Kiran Ratna, taking her first steps to introduce Wales to the beautiful art form, Bharata Natyam. From the early 80s which saw Kiran performing as a solo dancer, the company has evolved and developed and 1993 saw the formation of the Kiran Ratna Company, which later became India Dance Wales in 1998. India Dance Wales is proud to serve Wales with performances, outreach services, educational work and training and has become renowned for bringing a unique and memorable experience to the British community. The future looks exciting for Indian Dance in Wales, as 2009 will see India Dance Wales touring a brand new production, ‘Life’, which will fuse together Bharata Natyam dance, live Carnatic music and Hindi lyrics together with English narration. India Dance Wales’ innovative productions have won the company great acclaim both nationally and internationally and sell out performances have built a reputation for being authentic, accessible and visually stunning. Productions seamlessly weave together different art forms and styles, whilst exploring themes which are current and relevant.
