SHH! in the house

SHH! in the house Diversions’ Artistic Associate, Roy Campbell-Moore and Visual Artist, Sue Williams are co-directing SHH!, a demanding and provocative new dance theatre installation for audiences to experience at the Dance House at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.

Thursday and Friday, 12 and 13, March, 8pm
Diversions Dance House
Tickets £10, Concessions £8

It is an evening to be experienced in the house with no walls, a performance that engages as the hot and passionate dance unfolds.

As we walk round the virtual house the game starts as two players in a dysfunctional relationship strive to win.

Audience members will be able to move around the space during the performance and sit, if they chose, close to the performers who are in the house, looking through its invisible boundaries.

SHH! is based on the recurring themes of communication in the world of Sue Williams’ images, particularly in her 2006 Arts Mundi exhibition, with the aim of creating a new dance production with its own specific viewpoint on design, staging and choreography.

Sue Williams’ paintings question and explore the impact, role and consequences of sexuality within women.

SHH! is where both ‘he’ and ‘she’ move in and out of the space; provoking, confronting and playing the game. Both ‘he’ and ‘she’ fall victim to self – image and the desire to reconcile the contradictions that exist within role play.

Collaborating performers appearing in the production include independent dance-artists Chloe Loftus and Jem Treays.

Included in the evening’s entertainment is an exhibition of photos and drawings by Sue Williams. The audience are also encouraged to join the cast and other artists involved in the project for drinks in the lounge after the show.

The piece contains themes of an adult nature.
