Arts Council of Wales appoints New Deputy Chief Executive     

The Arts Council of Wales (ACW) has announced the appointment of Frances Medley as its New Deputy Chief Executive (a newly created position within ACW)

Ms Medley first joined ACW as its Planning Director. This involved overseeing the corporate planning of ACW’s distribution of its £28 million budget for the arts in Wales and ACW’s links with local authorities, funding agencies and its international and regional partners. Since September 2000, Ms Medley has been the Acting Chief Executive of ACW. In this capacity, the majority of Ms Medley’s work focused on ACW’s restructuring process.

Ms Medley now looks forward to working alongside ACW’s recently appointed new Chief Executive Peter Tyndall to implement the restructuring process.

Ms Medley is originally from Derbyshire and was educated at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and Washington State University. She joined ACW from the National Assembly for. Frances lives in Barry and is 32 years old.

ACW’s Chairman Sybil Crouch, said “ I am very pleased that Frances has been appointed to this post. She has played a crucial role in managing the organisation through the difficult transitional period and her experience will help to provide continuity and maintain the momentum for change. It is a further important step in building an Arts Council of Wales fit for the 21st century and will help us to provide the leadership and support to the arts which will allow them to make a full contribution to building the new Wales”.
