![]() Hijinx Theatre is delighted to be working with Wales Millennium Centre to present the second Unity Festival in association with Touch Trust, Disability Arts Cymru, Community Music Wales and Mencap Cymru. The festival promotes the best in disability arts, learning disability arts and inclusive arts. In an eclectic line up, highlights this year include the Oska Bright Film Festival, StopGap inclusive dance company, comedian Laurence Clark with his viciously funny show Spastic Fantastic and Hijinx Theatre’s new play by Glenys Evans for learning disabled and community audiences – Chasing Rainbows. We are also very excited to add an international element to the line up this year, with Spanish companies Clownfish and Clownbaret visiting Wales to work with our very own Odyssey Theatre. Worried about the Credit Crunch? As usual there is a dazzling array of free workshops for all ages and abilities, performances and exhibitions to accompany our “headliners”, making Unity the ultimate antidote to these tough times. We’re sure there will be something you’d like to get involved with, whether you can make it for just one day or the entire week! Plus, don’t miss the finale to the festival on 21st June at Cardiff Students Union – featuring the fantastic Heavy Load (Brighton based punk band www.heavyload.org) supported by local funk collective Funky Love Posse and up and coming band Smashing Diamonds. Tickets for this event are £5 on the door, but if you have a learning disability you can get in for free by calling the Wales Learning Disability Helpline on 0808 808 1111! You can download a full schedule of events at www.hijinx.org.uk or call Hijinx Theatre for a festival programme on 02920 300331. We look forward to meeting you at Unity 2009! |
