Sonnets on a Summerís Day

Sonnets on a Summerís Day The Midsummer Sonnets Festival took place from June 19 to 21 at the Living Willow Theatre, Llanwrthwl to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the publication of Shakespeare’s sonnets. Having achieved the prestigious Inspire Mark (inspired by the 2012 Games), the festival lived up to this honour by presenting a line-up including Michael Bogdanov, Tim Carroll and his company the Factory, and Professors David West and David Crystal. A unique blend of academic and artistic responses to the sonnets, this was the first event of its kind anywhere and was extremely well received by leaders and participants alike.

Hard on the heels of this success and back by popular demand, The Living Willow Community Company has added an extra date for their rendition of Shakespeare’s As You Like It at the Living Willow Theatre. On Saturday July 18 at 7pm you have another chance to see this sunniest of Shakespeare’s comedies with love, laughter and music to warm your hearts and dazzle your spirits. Response to this excellent local production has been fantastic, with audience members going away saying they felt younger and happier.

Doors open at 6pm on Saturday July 18 for tea, barbecue and bar. Tickets cost £8 for adults and £4 for children and can be purchased from the box office on 01597 811487, the website www.livingwillowtheatre.co.uk or our three ticket outlets:
