Welsh Arts company makes it to the Final Three!
ODYSSEY THEATRE, Hijinx Theatre’s mixed ability community theatre group
has reached the FINAL of THE NATIONAL LOTTERY AWARDS
An annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects to celebrate and recognise the difference that they can make to people and communities across the UK!

As the only Welsh arts project to reach the final, and thanks to thousands of votes from supporters, Odyssey Theatre is now in line to win the award for BEST ARTS PROJECT in the National Lottery Awards 2009. The counter has been set back to zero and we now call for your votes to help us to bring the title home to Wales. Voting begins again at 9am on 3rd August and ends at mid day on 14th August!
We were thrilled to receive the phone call from Lottery Good Causes HQ with the stunning news that we’d successfully reached the final three, with support pouring in from across the UK. Big thanks to everyone who voted … now please vote again and urge everyone you know to do the same!

It’s been a hard fought battle so far, and there’s more to come! Now we have to start the call for votes all over again and get the public to vote for Odyssey Theatre to make it all the way to the number one spot.

Odyssey Theatre has, for 10 years, run weekly workshops for a mixed ability group and created regular productions which offer a fun night out. Members with and without learning disabilities work together as equals, collaborating regularly with a special school, music students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and other arts organisations. All this culminates in a show with full professional support at the Weston Studio, Wales Millennium Centre which has now become for many the highlight of the Christmas calendar; as our members tell us…. Odyssey Theatre changes lives.

“It’s wonderful that thanks to all the support so far we have reached the FINAL of The National Lottery Awards, now we need all our supporters to get behind us and vote again to actually make it to the top spot! Without Lottery funding our project wouldn’t exist, so it’s great for us and our inclusive work to be recognized in this way.”
Gaynor Lougher, Odyssey Theatre
