Familiar faces in the Torch's Shop of Horrors....

Rehearsals started this week for The Torch Theatre Company’s production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’. And if you think there’s something familiar about the actor playing Seymour, that’ll be because you will have seen Christian Patterson performing in ‘Christmas Cat & The Pudding Pirates’ and ‘Neville’s Island’ back in 1998. But three years on and 10 stone lighter, you would be forgiven for not recognising the actor who also appeared in ‘The Woman in Black’ at The Torch Theatre.

But there are plenty of oversize features in ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, to compensate for a pocket-sized Christian Patterson! The blood-sucking plant (Audrey 2) is taking up most of the space under-stage, as Rachael Canning - Welsh College-trained puppet maker - is in the process of gradually transforming inanimate materials into a vicious-looking red and green monster triffid. Intruders beware – Audrey 2 is scarier and hungrier and louder than any Rottweiller guard dog! Look out for Audrey 2 on the streets of Milford Haven, over the next couple of weeks, recruiting audiences for the show. But be warned … if you hear the words ‘Feed me!’ – RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!

For those who remember the last production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ back in 1989, the actor playing Mushnik may also ring a few rusty bells. Dudley Rogers returns to The Torch Theatre to play Mushnik for a second time 12 years on!

With the addition of Welsh Theatre-trained Kyra Williams playing Audrey, and Karin Diamond, Jill Draper and Nina Kristofferson as Chiffon, Crystal and Ronette, plus live music from James Williams and his musicians, the production should raise the roof as the madness, mayhem and music roar to life in Milford Haven.

‘Little Shop of Horrors’ will play at The Torch Theatre, Milford Haven from Tuesday 16 October until Saturday 3 November at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £8.50 (£6.50 discounts). Some matinees are available - telephone the theatre box office for details on 01646 695 267.
