This Oscar Wilde classic with an all-star cast visits Cardiff from Tuesday 13 – Saturday 17 April.Lee was crowned the people’s Joseph in 2007 and performed the iconic role in the West End for 72 sold out weeks. In this hilarious story by Oscar Wilde, Lord Arthur Savile is deliriously happy. A pillar of Victorian society he is the verge of marriage to Sybil Merton, when a brief departure from late Nineteenth century convention leads him to an encounter with a chilling clairvoyant called Podgers. Podgers reveals that at some point in Arthur’s life he is destined to commit murder. To protect his future wife, Arthur decides he must commit this terrible dead before he marries. As he searches for the most convenient person to sacrifice, chaos ensues in this highly entertaining classic tale of upper class morality. Trevor Baxter’s acclaimed stage adaptation of Wilde’s Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime is produced by Bill Kenwright, who also produced the hugely popular revivals of Wilde’s A Woman of No Importance, The Importance of Being Earnest and the legendary Peter Hall production of An Ideal Husband.
